Not Book Related But Very Worthwhile!

While this is not book related, it sends a very powerful message. The following video details what it feels like to suffer with depression. This might be especially helpful for those who have family members or friends who struggle with depression. Statistics show that at this time of year, the holiday time, there is an increase in depression in people who are particularly susceptible to it. Some of our favorite authors have been very open about dealing with depression. Take a view minutes and view the video to gain deeper insight and understanding, if not for you, then the people you love.

Cover Reveal - Behind His Eyes (Consequences) by Aleatha Romig

BEHIND HIS EYES - CONSEQUENCES is a reading companion, by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aleatha Romig, recommended to be read after completing all of the CONSEQUENCES SERIES: Consequences, Truth, and Convicted. It is not a standalone book and should not be read as such.

This companion was written to explore the thoughts and motivations of Anthony Rawlings, the man behind the consequences. It was not intended as a total rewrite of Consequences, but meant to enhance the reader’s understanding. BHE-Consequences contains significant scenes from the novel Consequences, as experienced from Anthony’s point of view. It also contains never before read, behind the scenes information, as well as a glossary of the characters and a timeline devoted to the events within Consequences.

BEHIND HIS EYES - CONSEQUENCES is a dark journey into the mind of the man who believes that he controls everything and controls nothing. Because there is more to learn about a man who:
Once upon a time, signed a napkin that he knew was a contract. As an esteemed businessman, he forgot one very important rule—he forgot to read the fine print. It wasn’t an acquisition to own another person as he’d previously assumed. It was an agreement to acquire a soul.
—Aleatha Romig CONVICTED

It was a long and painful acquisition—especially from Behind His Eyes!

The Symphony - Late May 2010

(Consequences—Chapter 8)

“Thank you, Tony,” she replied. “This has been an amazing night. How can I ever thank you?” He pulled her close, feeling the pressure of her breasts against his chest. Turning off the riding lights, he smiled a devilish grin. “I have a few ideas.”

Claire’s glance darted toward the dark glass partition separating the back from the front of the car. Tony laughed. “I promise we’re alone; Eric can’t see or hear us.” He leaned toward her. She instinctively reached for his neck and settled onto the long leather seat. As he hovered mere inches above, he watched her cheeks flush, and his erection came to life. Over the past few months, Claire had learned to respond to Tony’s commands—both verbal and none. There'd been times when she’d hesitated. It was on those occasions that she earned the punishment she deserved. Turning his tone more serious, he raised a brow and demanded, “Now, show me that you’ve followed my rules. I want to see.”

Claire’s immediate response fortified the pride of his accomplishment. She maintained their gaze as her small hand fumbled for the hem of her dress. “I can’t reach—”

Tony wouldn’t let her finish—he couldn’t. He needed to taste her. Entwining his fingers in her loose ringlets of hair, he tilted her lips upward and heard a small moan before his mouth seized hers.

Unable to soften his approach, he took what was his. It wasn’t enough—he wanted more. When his tongue probed, her lips parted allowing him to enter her warmth. Tony savored her sweetness as her arms once again encircled his neck. With his other hand, he reached for the hem of her dress and the cabin filled with her whimpers of anticipation.

He slowly lifted the beaded material and teasingly brushed her inner thigh. “Open your legs for me,” he commanded.

She obeyed and he continued to caress her soft skin. When her breathing labored and he neared his destination, Tony stopped. Releasing her hair, he sat up and gazed down at her blushed cheeks, smudged lipstick, and nearly exposed body. Grinning, he murmured, “You were amazing tonight.”

Softly, she replied, “Thank you.”

Leaning back, he reminded her. “But the night isn’t over.” His playful tone vanished. “Now, lift your dress and let me see if you have truly behaved.”

Slowly reaching for the length of material, Claire kept her eyes fixed on his. As the material rose, she replied, “I promise, Tony, I’ve followed your rules.”

He couldn’t help but think how beautiful she looked—offering herself to him. That, combined with the sound of her calling him by his personal name, was enough to release the painful tightness in his slacks. It seemed unreal that he could be on the verge of exploding, and she’d yet to touch him. Surprisingly, at that moment, that wasn’t what he wanted. He yearned for something else, and they both knew his desires came first.

Is it January 14 yet? I CANNOT WAIT!!! This series is most certainly one of my top favorites. The author is a mastermind. I don't know how she did it but Aleatha Romig actually had me and many other women swooning over this crazy, master manipulator. Mind you, it took a little while because at first, well, I wanted to kill him with my bare hands. But then, I don't know, he grew on me. Then he grew on me some more. And I thought, geez, I'm in need of some seriously intense therapy. Anyone know a good therapist? But luckily, I wasn't the only one! I found that many others were in the same boat. So I can't be the only one that's crazy, right?

This man, Anthony Rawlings, is so incredibly HOT! And GIFTED! I'll just leave it at that.  You must experience this story for yourself so if you haven't had the chance yet, don't waste any more time! Buy yourself a present. After all, it's almost Christmas!

P.S. Aleatha has promised another teaser or two after Christmas so stay tuned! Happy Holidays to us!

Blog Tour - Sempre: Redemption by J.M. Darhower

Book Synopsis:

In this thrilling and sexy follow-up to Sempre, two young lovers struggle to keep their relationship intact after they become deeply enmeshed in the dangerous mafia-run crime ring they once tried to overthrow.

Haven Antonelli and Carmine DeMarco have been through a lot. Haven was taken in by Carmine’s father, and with his family’s help, she escaped a gruesome fate. However, saving Haven from the dark intentions of a mafia family cost Carmine a steep price: he was forced to swear loyalty to them.

Now, still passionately in love, Carmine and Haven must face the fall-out of Carmine’s forced service, as Haven discovers terrifying secrets about the family that enslaved both her and her mother—and why she matters so much in this intricate web of lies.

About the Author:

JM Darhower is the author of countless stories and poems, most of which only she has ever read. She lives in a tiny town in rural North Carolina, where she churns out more words than will ever see the light of day. She has a deep passion for politics and speaking out against human trafficking, and when she isn't writing (or fangirling about books) she's usually ranting about those things.

Chronic crimper with a vulgar mouth, she admits to having a Twitter addiction. You can usually always find her there.

Carmine sat in his usual chair in the library, casually strumming his guitar. A sliver of light filtered in from the large window, illuminating his somber expression in the darkness. She called his name but he remained still, continuing to pluck at the strings almost as if he hadn’t heard her. She took a step toward him and was about to say his name again when he let out a long, deep sigh. “I had a dream.”

“Another nightmare?” she asked, walking over to him. He glanced up at her as his fingers stilled, the music stopping, but Haven barely noticed. She couldn’t focus on anything but the green eyes boring into her. Once so alive with passion, she saw nothing but deep sadness marring the bright color.

Carmine set the guitar aside and moved his legs to make room, motioning for her to join him. She climbed into his lap and he wrapped his arms around her.

“Not a nightmare this time,” he said. “It was a good dream.”

“What was it about?”

“You,” he said quietly. “You made a painting—some abstract shit, I don’t know—but it was so good they hung it in a museum and raved about how talented you were. It was like you were the next fucking Picasso, tesoro.”

She laughed. “I don’t even know how to paint, Carmine.”

“You could learn,” he said. “Would you want to?”

“Maybe, but I don’t know how good I’d be.”

“Oh, you’d be good,” he said confidently. “You shouldn’t doubt yourself. You can do anything you set your mind to.”

“Except for play the piano,” she said playfully. “Or the guitar.”

He chuckled. “Yeah, for the sake of everyone’s ears, we ought to leave music to me, but the rest is all you. You can probably do all of that, you know. Draw, paint, sculpt shit into weird shapes and tell people it’s something it doesn’t look anything like. That takes talent.”

She smiled. “And you think I have that kind of talent?”

“Of course,” he said. “There’s gonna be no stopping you once you get started.”

“Thank you,” she whispered, a swell of emotion surging through her at his words. “It means a lot that you believe in me.”

“I’d be an idiot not to,” he said, kissing the top of her head.

“Into the park,” he demanded, pointing at the entrance.

“Nope.  We should go home now.”

He smiled, clearly contemplating her suggestion.  Then, as she began to drag him back to their cars, he hoisted her up into his arms and carried her into the park himself.

“Oh my God!  What are you doing?” she squealed as he walked forward.

He held her gingerly in his arms as if she weighed nothing.

“I can walk! I can walk!”

“Are you going to behave?” he asked, smirking down at her face.

“Not if you keep carrying me!”

“Then, why would I put you down?”

She threw her head back, exasperated, and he just laughed at her.

“All right, all right.  I’ll put you down.”  He placed her lightly on her feet.

“Thank you,” she said, steadying herself against him in her high heels.  “Can we try to act like civilized adults now?”

“What’s the fun in that?”

“You have a point.”

As they walked farther into the park, the trees began to cluster together, and the city lights gradually disappeared. The characteristic speeding of cars on the interstate and honking of horns in traffic through the commuter city faded away to a dull hum, and they were left with each other. The winding path they had selected was even farther off the beaten track, and Lexi actually noticed that some stars were overhead. The stars had come out for them tonight, like the stars had known they were going to take this moonlit stroll through the city.

The weight of his hand was peaceful against hers, and the sound of each other’s breathing kept a slow, easy rhythm about their movements—so much so, that she hardly realized just how dark it was where they were. They had walked so deep into the woods that even the lights in the park were missing or had been extinguished.

“Hey,” she whispered, not even sure why she was being so quiet.  “It’s really dark out here.  Don’t you think we should go back?”

“Yeah, probably,” he agreed, stopping and staring down at her.  “Let’s just go a little farther, and if we don’t find the other side, we’ll circle back.”

Lexi nodded.

After another minute of walking on the darkened path, they followed a bend in the trail, and suddenly, light illuminated the path before them.

“Oh, good,” she murmured, breathing a sigh of relief.  “We made it.”

He smiled back at her.  “We did.”

Lexi looked into his face and saw a glint of something she hadn’t recognized before. Had she not been looking?  He appeared absolutely ecstatic.  She hadn’t even realized how happy he was and that such a small walk with her could brighten his mood.

Walking forward along the path, Lexi noticed it narrowed as they ventured toward the light.  Her eyes widened as everything came into focus.

No wonder he was grinning like an idiot.

White candles of all different shapes and sizes flickered along the path. Hundreds of them illuminated their way, and she noticed, where she hadn’t before, the streetlights were all still in place but had been shut off to allow the red-and-orange flames to be the only source of light.  He had turned off the world in Piedmont Park to give Lexi one of her own.

She stared forward, perplexed and in awe at what was materializing, as she followed him down the pathway. The candles opened up to a small clearing where a giant blanket was laid out with a picnic basket and a dozen long-stemmed red roses in a clear vase.

“What is this?” she whispered, facing him once more.

He just smiled. “Dessert?”

EEEEEPPP!!! I CANNOT wait for this book to release! It feels like I've been waiting forever. After meeting the hottie Professor Dean West and his lovely wife Liv earlier this year, I immediately fell head over heels in love with their story as well as the author who created them. Dean and Liv's journey was one of the most poignant, romantic, perfectly imperfect love stories I've read since Gabriel and Julia's. If you love romance, believe in fairy tales, can handle a little angst and enjoy stunning prose, you do NOT want to miss this beautifully written trilogy.
